Principal's Corner

Welcome Back!!!

Greetings Parent/Guardian(s),

Happy New Year!! The school year is moving extremely fast. We celebrated more than 35 students on December 16, 2015 for not receiving a discipline referral for the months of November and December. I am so proud of the students who are making the right decisions.

Starting January 2016 the school hours will start at 7:40 instead of 8:00. A letter was sent home January 4, 2016. This change does not impact our bus riders; however, car riders will need to make adjustments to students being dropped off at Success Academy on time. The program’s new instructional schedule is below:

 Middle/High School Instructional Schedule

7:20 a.m. - 7:40 a.m. – Intake/Breakfast

7:40 a.m. – 8:40 a.m. – 1st Block

8:42 a.m. – 9: 33 a.m. – 2nd Block

9:34 a.m. – 10:24 a.m. – 3rd Block

10:26 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. – 4th Block

Middle/High school lunch included in 4th block

12:12- p.m. – 1:02 p.m. - 5th Block

1:05 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. – 6th Block

The school day will start at 7:40 a.m. Students arriving to school after 7:40 a.m. will need to be signed in by their parent/guardian.

Requirements students must meet to be recommended to return to base school.

At the end of each quarter, students are reviewed on three criteria to be recommended to return back to their base school. The three requirements are the following:

Requirement 1: Student must pass all classes with a 70 or higher.

Requirement 2: Student cannot receive more than two discipline referrals during the quarter.

Requirement 3: Student must have good attendance. Excessive absences can result in student failing the class due to attendance. Also, students with an abundance of absences will be referred to the district truancy officer

Make-Up Hours for Seat Time

High school students with excessive absences will be required to make-up missing days. Starting the week of January 25th , high school students can stay after school from 2:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday to make up hours for absences. Parents will be responsible for ensuring their child is pick-up at 4:00 p.m. A school representative will contact parents about students staying after school.

Parent Orientations

Tuesdays have been designated as Parent Orientation nights

Parent orientation is designed to give parents more information about our program. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend parent orientation.
